On Sunday afternoon, Aaron Donald made some changes to his social media profile that could indicate a retirement.

It would not be a massive shock if Los Angeles Rams pass-rusher Aaron Donald decided to hang it up this offseason. The pass-rusher has put together a Hall of Fame career as a nine-time Pro Bowler and seven-time All-Pro. When he declared “Ring me!” last year in the Super Bowl, he accomplished everything you can hope to accomplish.

Donald, closing in on 32 years old, probably has some gas left in the tank, but as the Rams potentially position toward a rebuild, maybe it’s a good time to say his goodbyes and enjoy his after-football life.

He made some changes on social media on Sunday afternoon that have fans thinking maybe he will be making a decision to end his career.

Aaron Donald made changes to his Twitter bio that hint at a retirement

Aaron Donald’s Twitter bio used to read “Former Pitt Football Player #97 Now NFL D Linemen for the Rams #99″ according to The Wayback Machine. On Sunday, it was briefly changed to “Former Pitt Football Player #97 former NFL D Linemen for the Rams #99″ (emphasis in both quotes my own).

Ultimately, it was changed again to: “Former Pitt Football Player #97 NFL D Linemen for the Rams #99”.

Donald still did drop the “Now” from his bio, potentially indicating that a formal retirement announcement is incoming.

Donald is under contract through 2025, so if he does come back, he’ll presumably be a Ram.

If he is indeed done, it would be a wrap on an excellent nine-year career that included 103 sacks, 490 tackles, and 160 tackles for loss. He would leave with the most QB hits in franchise history, the third-most sacks, the second-most forced fumbles, and the third-best cumulative approximate value. He also ranks eighth all-time for total tackles for loss.
