The top two teams in the polls lost last week. Who will be the new No. 1 in this week’s college basketball power rankings?

Trying to identify the best teams in college basketball this season is more difficult than ever. The top two teams in the Week 11 AP Top 25 poll lost, along with four other Top 10 teams, which will undoubtedly lead to a shakeup in this week’s college basketball power rankings.

Who will claim the top spot in the rankings and who surged into the Top 10? Read on for those answers, but we’ll kick off the rankings with this week’s Honorable Mentions.

Week 12 College Basketball Power Rankings – Honorable Mentions

Note: All rankings referenced in this story are based on the Week 11 AP Top 25 Poll.

Marquette, Gonzaga, Arizona, Iowa State, Texas

We waxed poetic about Gonzaga in last week’s rankings and wondered if they weren’t getting enough respect. The Bulldogs responded by losing to Loyola Marymount at home, snapping their 76-game home winning streak, and needed to fight tooth-and-nail to get by Pacific, which was not enough to stay in the Top 10.

Iowa State is also out after narrowly losing to Oklahoma State following a good win over Texas, which maintains its positioning with a 1-1 week in the Big 12. The top newcomer is Marquette, which completed a 2-0 week by avenging a loss to Providence and beating Seton Hall to improve to 8-2 in the Big East. The Golden Eagles are right behind Xavier, who they took down to the wire a week ago, and get another shot at the Musketeers in a month.
