Nothing will keep Christian McCaffrey from playing for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Not even a calf injury will keep Christian McCaffrey from playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

While soft tissue injuries largely derailed his career with the Carolina Panthers, McCaffrey was traded over to an NFC juggernaut with serious Super Bowl aspirations. The 49ers won the NFC three years ago and played in the conference title bout last January. As for if McCaffrey had any plans on sitting this one out, you could safely say his chances of not playing are less than zero.

Here is what McCaffrey had to say about his chances of playing in the NFC Championship Game.

San Francisco will take on the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles on the road this Sunday afternoon.

Christian McCaffrey expects to play for San Francisco 49ers in NFC Championship

At this stage of the season, any team left can not only get to, but can win the Super Bowl. All but the Eagles were playing in this game only a season ago. However, San Francisco is starting a new quarterback in rookie Brock Purdy, as Trey Lance’s season ended back in September, while Jimmy Garoppolo has missed the last several weeks with his potential season-ender. Yet, here we are…

No team in football is hotter than the 49ers right now. They have not lost a game in three months. However, the Cincinnati Bengals are on a lengthy winning streak themselves, the Kansas City Chiefs are still the Kansas City Chiefs and the Eagles went 14-3 during the regular season. All four teams have every reason to believe they can win the Lombardi Trophy, but will McCaffrey’s 49ers?

From a talent perspective, you could argue in favor of the 49ers having the best roster of the four. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has ample Super Bowl experience, but has never won it all before. Frankly, it is hard to envision the 49ers beating the Eagles and either the Bengals or Chiefs back-to-back with Purdy as their starting quarterback. Then again, Purdy has an elite team around him.

Whatever McCaffrey can give the 49ers out of the backfield could help the win the NFC on Sunday.
