Breaking down the Farmers Insurance Open payout for the 2023 trip to Torrey Pines as Sam Ryder tried to hold off Jon Rahm, Max Homa and more on Saturday.

The 2023 Farmers Insurance Open took us back for another trip to historic Torrey Pines right outside of San Diego but for a different tournament than normal. Due to a unique schedule that we saw some last season, it was a Wednesday-to-Saturday tournament with the champion being decided a day earlier than most weeks on the PGA Tour.

Coming into Saturday’s final round, it was Sam Ryder who had at least a share of the lead after the first three rounds. But while he was out ahead by himself coming into the last 18 holes of the tournament, it was a host of heavy-hitters chasing right behind him, including Tony Finau, Max Homa and Jon Rahm, the latter trying to win his third consecutive start on the PGA Tour in 2023.

That led to a dramatic Saturday (instead of Sunday) finish at Torrey Pines. Homa surged up the leaderboard and tied Ryder early. That’s when experience seemed to come into play as Ryder began to falter, with the driver in particular, as Homa recovered extremely well from his one mistake. That allowed him to take the title.

Now let’s check in his winner’s share of the prize money and the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open payout by player and finishing position.

It was a Saturday finish at Torrey Pines for these players due to CBS and the PGA Tour not wanting to conflict with the NFL conference championship games on Sunday, a smart call by everyone involved. That led to a fun finish early in the weekend and we got a great tournament to add to that.

With the conditions, the wind specifically, making the La Jolla track even more difficul to navigate the South Course than it normally is, we should’ve known that we were going to be in for a treat, even with Ryder coming into the final round with a nice lead.
