Kansas City Chiefs fans will feel even more confident in the team’s chances in Super Bowl 57 after this latest injury update on quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Kansas City Chiefs are once again back in the Super Bowl after winning the AFC championship. Entering that game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes was dealing with a high ankle sprain that he suffered in the Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mahomes moved around just fine and was able to make plays with his legs, notably a clutch run for a first down in their final drive of the game.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared a positive update earlier this week, saying that Mahomes didn’t suffer any major setbacks in terms of his ankle injury.

Well, the good news keeps on coming. Even though the Chiefs didn’t hold practice on Wednesday, Mahomes was estimated as a full participant, per the team’s official website.

Again, even though there was no practice, the expectation is that Mahomes will be able to participate in full whenever they do hold drills.

Even after Mahomes sprained his ankle against the Jaguars, he didn’t have a walking boot in the lead-up to the AFC Championship Game. In fact, his movement wasn’t all that limited. Perhaps most impressively, Mahomes was a full participant in every practice ahead of the Bengals matchup.

In the AFC Championship Game, Mahomes completed 29-of-43 pass attempts for 326 yards and two touchdowns, while running for eight yards on three carries.

After the win, Mahomes credited Chiefs assistant athletic trainer July Frymyer for setting up his rehab in the days leading up to the AFC Championship Game, and saying that she was the reason why he was able to play.

Super Bowl 57 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 12. With over a week remaining until the big game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Mahomes’ ankle continues to trend in the right direction.
