Aaron Rodgers rumors: Jets are absolutely going to blow this, aren’t they?

The New York Jets remain the supposed frontrunners for Aaron Rodgers, but they may be getting a little overconfident.

For now, Aaron Rodgers is a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers could be on the outs in Wisconsin, however, given he’s still undecided about his future. It doesn’t help that the Packers drafted Rodgers replacement in 2020, Jordan Love. Love performed admirably at times last season, which leads the Packers front office to believe that the time is now to move off of their future Hall of Famer in favor of…the future, in a sense.

If Rodgers does choose to return next season, there’s no guarantee he does so as a member of the Pack. The New York Jets have already emerged as a potential suitor, and they’re not shy about it.

Per Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline, “One source said that general manager Joe Douglas is admitting to people in the league the (Jets) franchise will go all out in the attempt to bring (Aaron) Rodgers to Gang Green.”

NFL rumors: Are Jets getting ahead of themselves with Aaron Rodgers?

The Jets are one of several teams that will have interest in Rodgers should he become available. The Las Vegas Raiders are another, as Tom Brady just retired and Davante Adams would love a reunion with his former quarterback.

Rodgers should get some say in where he is traded, if he in fact is done in Green Bay. Would he rather start over with a bunch of young skill position players in New York, or play with a familiar face in Vegas? My money is on the latter.

The Jets have plenty to be excited about in the next few seasons, with or without Rodgers. The front office has done great work building through the NFL Draft. If anything, they should resist the urge to give the Packers whatever they want for an aging quarterback.

Please, please, don’t blow this.
