Rob Gronkowski makes declaration on possibility of Tom Brady unretiring again

Former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared on the “Up and Adams” show and discussed the possibility of teammate Tom Brady unretiring again.

On Wednesday morning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady posted a video that he was retiring from the NFL “for good.”

Brady announced his retirement from football last offseason but decided to return to the Buccaneers for the 2022 season approximately one month later. Considering what took place last year, NFL fans are wondering if Brady will change his mind again.

During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up and Adams” show with host Kay Adams, former New England Patriots and Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski was asked what is next for his former teammate. Gronkowski said his former quarterback is “definitely retired now.”

“He’s definitely retired now, I would definitely say so, no doubt about that,” said Gronkowski. “I don’t think he’s going to retire a second time and come back before this year, I don’t see that happening, just because he’s been in this situation now. But he’s got a lot of things on his plate. He’s done a great job to set himself up after football…”

Gronkowski pointed out that Brady has his “Let’s Go” podcast with Sirius XM, which he hosts with Jim Gray and former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, his BRADY apparel brand, and his upcoming FOX gig.

After Brady announced his return to the Buccaneers last offseason, he agreed to terms with FOX to be an NFL analyst on the network’s top broadcast team alongside Kevin Burkhardt. It remains to be seen what will happen with Greg Olsen, who is partnered alongside Burkhardt this season and has received rave reviews for his commentary. What is known is that Brady’s contract is worth a total of $375 million over 10 years.

This season, the Buccaneers dealt with a variety of injuries across the roster. Not to mention that head coach Bruce Arians had transitioned to a front office position with the Buccaneers, which paved the way for defensive coordinator Todd Bowles to take over as the sideline boss. The team did win the NFC South Championship, but they were outmatched by the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round, losing 31-14 in what would be Brady’s final game.

Brady led the league in pass completions (490) and pass attempts (733), where he recorded 4,694 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

While some fans feel that Brady will ultimately unretire again, Gronkowski feels like Brady will stay retired this time around.
