Taking a look at the Super Bowl spread for Chiefs vs Eagles in addition to a historical look at the spread for the Big Game and the results ATS.

The Lombardi Trophy, bragging rights, a potential Kansas City Chiefs dynasty, all of it is on the line on Sunday in Glendale, AZ with the Chiefs vs Eagles matchup for Super Bowl LVII. Patrick Mahomes will look to pick up his second ring while Jalen Hurts will look to bring another championship to Philly, following in the footsteps of Nick Foles’ magical run. But at home, many fans are only going to be caring about the Super Bowl spread.

With the immense boom in popularity for sports betting, the Super Bowl is one of the most heavily bet sporting events of the year, if not the most. There are so many ways to attack it, but there’s nothing easier than just betting on the game itself and firing off a wager against the Super Bowl spread.

So what is the line for this year’s game? What are the trends regarding the Super Bowl spread in previous years? Let’s take a look at all of the numbers to see what we have before us for Chiefs vs Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Super Bowl spread for Chiefs vs Eagles: Philly favored slightly over KC

Though the Chiefs opened as slight favorites in Super Bowl LVII, the line quickly moved. As of Monday on Super Bowl week, the Eagles are listed as 1.5-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook and on most other books as well. Philadelphia is also -122 on the moneyline with Kansas City at +104 as the underdog. The Over/Under total for the game is set at 50.5 with -112 juice to the under as of this writing.

  • Super Bowl LIV: Chiefs (-1) vs 49ers, O/U: 54.5 – Result: Chiefs 31, 49ers 20 (Chiefs -1, Under 54.5)
  • Super Bowl LIII: Patriots (-2.5) vs Rams, O/U: 57.5 – Result: Patriots 13, Rams 3 (Patriots -2.5, Under 57.5)
  • Super Bowl LII: Patriots (-4) vs Eagles, O/U: 49 – Result: Eagles 41, Patriots 33 (Eagles +4, Over 49)

  • Super Bowl XLVII: 49ers (-4.5) vs Ravens, O/U: 48 – Result: Ravens 34, 49ers 31 (Ravens +4.5, Over 48)

What we can glean from this in terms of betting trends over the last 10 Super Bowl matchups in the betting markets is pretty fascinating. While we are at 5-5 with the over and under for the Big Game, each of the last four contests have gone to the under.

But perhaps more interesting is the against the spread numbers. In six of the last 10 matchups, the underdog has covered the spread and the Patriots won Super Bowl XLIX as a pick ’em. So when there has been a number, underdogs have won at a 66.7% clip against the spread. Meanwhile, underdogs against the Super Bowl spread are also 5-4 straight up, meaning that they would’ve cashed a plus-money moneyline bet as well.

We’ll have to see if these trends continue on Sunday in Glendale for Super Bowl LVII.
