2. Raiders might have the clearest path to signing Carson Wentz

It’s been quite a shift in narrative for the Las Vegas Raiders since they made the decision to move on from Derek Carr prior to the final weeks of the 2022 regular season. With Davante Adams in tow, it seemed as if they were a prime destination for Aaron Rodgers in a potential trade should the quarterback want out of Green Bay.

That no longer appears to be the case, though, as Peter King of The MMQB noted in his column on Monday that the Raiders are out on Rodgers as an option. That definitely doesn’t preclude the silver and black from pursuing other veterans on the market like Jimmy Garoppolo or even drafting a quarterback.

If they choose to either target a quarterback in the draft with the No. 7 pick or even to just move forward with Jarrett Stidham in the 2023 season, the fact of the matter is that the Raiders will need to add a veteran presence to the locker room. And perhaps Carson Wentz could be the flavor that they choose.

Again, it’s hard to imagine a world in which the price tag on Wentz as a free agent is anything of major consequence this offseason, even with the QB market exploding. If the Raiders want a quarterback room that has young talent and a veteran with the latter conceivably starting Week 1 to give a bit of a runway, then Wentz might actually make some sense.
