Fans go to see the next generation of NFL talent their team is rostering and to boo Roger Goodell. But how much does it cost to do that?

The NFL Draft is truly for the diehards. There’s no action. Nothing at stake that comes to fruition on the same day as the selections. And sometimes, even the guest pick announcers are fringe celebrity at best, not exactly someone you’re bragging to your friends that you got to see in-person.

So the idea of how much people pay to actually enjoy this event is worth pondering, and perhaps, questioning. But the price to enjoy it is actually somewhat surprising.

Where is the NFL Draft in 2023? When is it?

The 2023 NFL Draft is April 27-29, and will be held in Kansas City. Specifically, the draft expo will be set up on the southern side of the National WWI Museum and Memorial, right next to Union Station.

After the Chiefs hoisted the Lombardi trophy in Kansas City, the Missouri/Kansas area is quickly becoming the nexus of the NFL universe.

The NFL Draft is, somewhat shockingly, free. All fans need to do to attend the event is to register ahead of time, something fans can do here.

That’s great for fans because they can put their budget toward travel, lodging, food, and peripheral entertainment while they’re in town. That makes it an event that cities want to host, and allows the NFL to parade it from host city to host city every year. It also has a sponsor (this year’s is Bud Light) to help it earn some revenue despite no ticketing.

Fans coming into town by plane should have a pleasant experience. Kansas City just migrated its terminal from an outdated facility — built pre-airport security laws — to a new and modern facility ready to accommodate thousands of travelers a day.

So to get a great seat and have a shot at showing up on TV, you really just have to show up early. In that sense, it’s the perfect event because it rewards the diehards and the football crazies.
