Sixers trade No. 2: Tobias Harris to the Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are desperate. They have two legitimate superstars in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but they have surrounded them with one of the weakest supporting casts in the association. This offseason, they will need to be aggressive to improve their roster.

Despite the contract hyperbole, Tobias Harris is a good NBA player. During the Sixers’ playoff run, he actually led the team in both win shares (1.1) and effective field goal percentage (57.8), minimum 40 field goal attempts. He would represent a huge upgrade for the Mavericks. In addition, he is also entering the final year of his contract.

In this deal, the Sixers have to take on Davis Bertans’s contract, but they add a future first-round pick and a pick swap in exchange for Harris. Maxi Kleber is included to make the salaries work; he could potentially be flipped to another team.

At the moment, the Mavericks’ future is cloudy, and those two picks have high-lottery upside.
