Days after a Browns teammate had his car stolen, cornerback Greg Newsom II was reportedly robbed at gunpoint over his vehicle.

The world can feel like a scary place sometimes. For a couple members of the Cleveland Browns, this is one of those times.

According to a report by Brandon Little of Browns Digest, cornerback Greg Newsom II was “robbed at gunpoint for his vehicle” on Monday.

Newsome may have confirmed the event with a tweet on Monday night saying, “It’s a cruel world we live in.”

This comes just a day after Demetric Felton’s car was apparently stolen in the Cleveland area, per News5 Cleveland.

It would be noteworthy for one NFL player to have their vehicle stolen. It’s even more wild that two players on the same team were the subject of vehicle thefts with a day of each other. What are the odds of that?

There is no indication that Newsom, or Felton, were injured during the process of these thefts. That’s at least something to take heart in. Even so, the stress of these situations would be traumatic. We can only hope both players are given the support they need in the aftermath.

The Browns selected Newsome out of Northwestern with the No. 26 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He started 11 games as a rookie with 37 tackles and nine pass defenses. Last year, he made 15 starts, logging 42 tackles, seven PDs and 0.5 sacks.

Felton was picked in the same draft class, but in the sixth round out of UCLA. He only played in eight games last year, making two starts. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, mostly on special teams as a return man with 227 yards on 32 returns. His punt return abilities got him on the NFL All-Rookie Team.
