The NHL returns to action tonight, and it will mark a monumental day in the history of the league. The NHL will be welcoming its 32nd franchise, the Seattle Kraken.

The Kraken will hit the road to take on the league’s 31st franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights, in their first ever regular season NHL game.

What I’m looking at here is betting props. With it still being unknown who the top contributors will be for the Kraken, there are some bets that will hold some tremendous value in their games at the beginning of the season.

Here are my top three for tonight’s matchup. All odds listed are courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Alexander Wennberg to Score a Goal +375

The top line for the Kraken is projected to be Jaden Schwartz and Jordan Eberle on the wings, and Alexander Wennberg at center. Wennberg scored the most goals of the three players last season, notching 17 with the Florida Panthers, and he also has the longest odds for the three skaters to score tonight. Seems like a great value bet to me!

Philipp Grubauer OVER 28.5 Saves -115

There’s no doubt in my mind that the Golden Knights will outshoot the Kraken tonight. Will they win? That’s a different story, but they’ll certainly get their fair share of chances.

Grubauer was a Vezina finalist last season, and was a fantastic pickup by the Kraken. They’ll need him to stand tall in tonight’s opening game and I expect him to do just that. He had a stellar save percentage of .922 with the Avalanche in the 2021 campaign.

Mark Stone to Score a Goal +210

If we’re going to bet on a Kraken player to score a goal, it’s only fair to bet on a Golden Knight to score a goal. Mark Stone finished second in scoring on the Golden Knights last season, racking up 21 total “ginos”.

He’s projected to be on the top line along with Max Pacioretty and Chandler Stephenson.
