The new-look Phillies start to the season has been exactly what their fanbase had hoped for.

On Saturday, new pitcher Kyle Gibson made his debut with 10 punch outs and seven scoreless against the A's while Nick Castellanos hit his first home run of the season in a 4-2 victory. That followed up a 9-5 victory Friday as the offense looked incredibly balanced, with seven of the nine starters driving in runs.

Today, veteran right-hander Zach Eflin holds court on the mount against fellow righty Daulton Jeffries.

Can the Phillies pull off the sweep? Or will the A's catch Philly napping on a Sunday getaway game?

Athletics vs. Phillies Prediction and Pick

There's two reasons to back the under in today's matinee.

The first is weather. The forecast in the Philadelphia area around Citizens Bank Ballpark is playable, but certainly not optimal for hitters today. Via RotoGrinders' meterologist Kevin Roth, the sun starts to fade just after first pitch with winds blowing in from left-center anywhere between 14-16 mph. This is great news for Eflin, who had a home run to fly ball ratio of 14.2% a season ago.

The second is both these pitchers pitch to contact, Jefferies in particular. Last year, his strikeout rate was only at 4.8%, and only averaged 2.4 walks per nine innings. Eflin's K/9 was better at 8.43 per nine, but the aforementioned home run ratio was a problem for him a season ago.

With crummy weather and the A's strikeout rate at 34.8% through the first two games, I'll back the total as opposed to a particular side (although the Phillies seem poised for the sweep).
