Friday night in the NHL was supposed to be a massive 13-game slate of action, but two games have already been postponed due to the winter advisory warning headed towards the east coast.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres' game has already been postponed for tonight, as well as the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators matchup north of the border.

One game to be on everyone's radar in the NHL is the showdown between two of the top squads in the Eastern Conference. The Boston Bruins remain six points ahead of the pack with a league best 54 on the season, and head into Newark to face the New Jersey Devils, who have fallen flat in the month of December after ending November 20-4-1 on the season.

Since December 3, the Devils are just 2-5-1 in their last eight games, finally ending a six-game winless streak in their previous matchup on the road vs. the Florida Panthers. Meanwhile, Boston has carried their winning ways from not just this year, but also from the end of last season. Via Covers, the Bruins have gone 53-20 in their last 73 games overall, and are 13-3 over their last 16 matchups vs. winning teams.

The oddsmakers have Boston set as a short favorite on the road tonight.

Other notable matchups this Friday evening include the Winnipeg Jets against the Washington Capitals as they look for their fourth straight win as a sizable home favorite, the Florida Panthers face-off vs. the New York Islanders as a short road favorite on Long Island, and the St. Louis Blues finish up their west coast road trip, hoping for a 4-1 swing when they head to Vegas to face the Golden Knights.
