With the NHL officially back from the mini-holiday break from Christmas Eve to December 26, we've got 12 games available for our wager-tainment this Tuesday night.

Over on Long Island, the Pittsburgh Penguins head to UBS Arena to face the New York Islanders. Both teams have 19 wins on the season, but the Penguins are third in the Metropolitan division with a 3-point lead over the Islanders who sit in sixth. A win tonight could catapult the Islanders as high as three spots in the standings.

Several miles away in Manhattan, the New York Rangers face the Washington Capitals on home ice at Madison Square Garden, with both teams come in red-hot after slow starts. Washington is 9-1-0 over their last 10, while the Rangers are 8-2-0. However, history suggests the home team is in a much more favorable spot, with the favorite going 44-16 in the last 650 games, and the home team 10-14 over the last 14 (via Covers).

Later on in the evening, the Edmonton Oilers head to Calgary for a regular season "Battle of Alberta" matchup against the Flames, who they eliminated from last year's postseason. The series is tied up at 1-1 so far this year, with both teams winning by one on the road in their respective matchups back in mid-to-late October.

The Oilers have gone 5-1 in their last six games against the Flames, but the underdog is 4-1 in their previous five matchups; giving the betting trend advantage to the visiting Oilers.
