Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today (First Inning Picks for May 10)
NRFI and YRFI are the latest trendy bet to place in Major League Baseball. The bet is on the first inning alone. If you take NRFI (No Runs First Inning) and the score remains scoreless at the end of the first, you win. If you take YRFI (Yes Runs First Inning) and either team scores a run, your bet cashes.
Let's take a look at my top three NRFI and YRFI bets for Tuesday, May 10th. All odds listed below are via WynnBET Sportsbook.
Brewers vs. Reds YRFI -105
Believe it or not, the Reds aren't so bad at scoring runs in the first inning. They average 0.48, which ranks 18th in the Majors. Now they face a Brewers team that is one of the best in the Majors, averaging 0.67.
On top of this, both starting pitchers have had a rough start to their season. Freddy Peralta sports an ERA of 5.09, and Hunter Greene has been abysmal with an ERA of 8.71. He's allowed four earned runs in the five first innings that he's pitched thus far. I love that we can get this bet at -105.
Jays vs. Yankees NRFI -120
Despite the Yankees and Blue Jays having two of the best offenses in all of baseball, they aren't great at scoring runs in the opening inning. Toronto ranks 15th, averaging 0.57, and New York ranks 20th, averaging 0.43.
Yusei Kikuchi takes the mound for the Jays, and he's coming off a one earned run, six inning performance against the Yankees his last time out. He's also only allowed one run in the first inning so far this season. Yankees starter, Luis Severino, has yet to allow a first inning run in his five starts thus far.
Cubs vs. Padres YRFI +115
We have to squeeze in a plus-money play, don't we?
The Cubs rank fourth in the Majors this season in first inning runs, averaging 0.68. If that isn't enough to convince you to sprinkle on this +115 play, consider that Padres starter, Mike Clevinger, gave up three earned runs in his first start of the season.
He'll be facing off against Wade Miley, who will be making his debut. If either pitcher experiences any rust, with only one start between them, a first inning run is certainly in the cards.
