Bills Signing Odell Beckham Would Boost Super Bowl Odds

There's an emerging trend for recent Super Bowl winners and it involves the wide receiver position.

Well, the Buffalo Bills have a chance to follow said trend and it appears the man who can help them do so is flirting with the idea.

Odell Beckham Jr. and his former Rams teammate and current Bills defensive end, Von Miller, had a fun back-and-forth on social media today where both hinted at the idea of Beckham signing with the Bills. Buffalo is currently the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl with +650 odds at FanDuel, but if it signed Beckham, it would bolster it's chances considerably and follow the trend of recent winners.

Over the last three years, the team that won the Super Bowl featured at least two top-tier pass catchers. The Chiefs had Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce in 2019, the Bucs had Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in 2020, and the Rams had Beckham and Cooper Kupp in 2021. Hell, even the teams the Bucs and Rams beat in the Super Bowl had great wide receivers -- the Chiefs and Bengals respectively.

The point is, having multiple great pass catchers has never been more important in the NFL and the Bills could use an upgrade at No. 2. Stefon Diggs, their No. 1, is elite, but their other starting wideouts, Gabriel Davis and Jamison Crowder, are not instilling fear in the opposition. Beckham would.

Before injuring his knee, Beckham had 3 catches for 52 yards and a TD in the Super Bowl. In the NFC Championship, he had 9 catches for 113 yards and in four playoff games he totaled 21 catches for 288 yards and 2 TDs.

Now, he has been injury-prone throughout his career, and there's no guarantee he'll have the same impact that he did last year because of his torn ACL. But, for a team that's all-in on winning a Super Bowl, signing Beckham would be a massive step forward for the Bills.

Buffalo should dominate the AFC East once again, with or without Beckham, and their OVER/UNDER for total team wins is currently 11.5 (-135/+115). Clearly, Vegas expects them to have a top seed in the AFC and adding Beckham to that starting lineup when he's healthy would give them a big boost when they need it.

We saw Beckham's production and attitude improve with the Rams last year so I'm not as concerned about the issues he faced/created with the Giants and Browns. Pair him with a star quarterback like Josh Allen opposite a star receiver like Diggs and he'll be happy. A happy OBJ is a productive OBJ and a productive OBJ could be the difference maker for the Bills come playoff time.
