Broncos' Super Bowl Odds Are Shockingly High

Here we go again with the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl odds being inflated ahead of another NFL season.
Last season, we saw the Broncos and the Green Bay Packers tied in the Super Bowl odds at WynnBET Sportsbook during the offseason, as rumors swirled around Aaron Rodgers and his potential departure from Green Bay.
It appears that this offseason will be no different.
With the Broncos hiring former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as their next head coach, WynnBET has placed Denver at +1500 to win the Super Bowl in 2023 (sixth-shortest odds). The Packers, meanwhile, sit at +2000.
Vegas Odds Suggest Aaron Rodgers Will Be Traded to Denver
If this doesn’t signal that oddsmakers are expecting Rodgers to be in Denver and not Green Bay, then I don’t know what does.
Denver’s roster is solid, but the last few seasons have shown the team is at least a quarterback away from contending, and Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock certainly weren’t enough to get Denver back into the playoffs. The Broncos haven’t been in the postseason since they won Super Bowl 50.
Why You Shouldn’t Trust a Broncos Future Just Yet
Personally, this price on Denver is far too steep for my liking this early in the offseason.
I discussed on Monday’s episode of Bet & Breakfast why I would stay away from Denver at this number, and there are several reasons why.
First off, the Broncos haven’t gotten Rodgers, or any quarterback, to replace Bridgewater.
If all of this is just smoke and mirrors like it was last year, Denver is wildly overvalued at +1500 with Lock, Bridgewater or a rookie under center in 2022.
Not only that, but the Broncos play in a division with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert, so landing any quarterback still may not make Denver the favorite in its own division, never mind give it a legit shot to win the Super Bowl.
The AFC has Mahomes, Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow already in it. Even if Rodgers is added to the mix, those are five elite quarterbacks that Denver would likely need to stave off to win the AFC.
Let’s not forget that the Broncos have won five, six, seven, five and seven games over the last five seasons. This team may look complete on paper, but there is more to fix than simply adding an elite quarterback.
That may be enough to get them to the playoffs, but it’s not a lock that they can contend for anything beyond that.
Until something more concrete materializes in the Rodgers market, the Broncos are simply too risky of a bet at +1500 for my liking.
