Now that the NBA All-Star Game is behind us, we can really start to dig into some of the more popular end-of-the-year awards in The Association for futures bettors. It feels like the MVP race is the natural jumping-off point but instead of covering the favorites exclusively, I wanted to highlight a current dark horse who has a ton of value. Before I get ahead of myself, let's get caught up on the current NBA MVP odds offered by WynnBET Sportsbook

  • Joel Embiid | +100
  • Nikola Jokic | +260
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo | +450
  • DeMar DeRozan | +800
  • Stephen Curry | +1500
  • Ja Morant | +1500
  • Luka Doncic | +2000
  • Devin Booker | +2000
  • Kevin Durant | +10000
  • Jayson Tatum | +10000

The first thing that jumps off the page when I look at these updated odds is that, according to the oddsmakers, this is shaping up to be a two-man race between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. This is a bit of a surprise after Steph Curry held a massive lead over the pack after breaking the NBA all-time record for three made but has since slowed his pace and fallen back to +1500. And while Curry’s odd does present a fair bit of value now that he isn’t the favorite, I think there is a guy on this list who is an even better bet.

Mark my words, Luka Doncic will win an MVP award in the NBA before his playing days are over. He already has a rookie of the year, multiple first-team selections, and an All-Star appearance. Doncic also won three MVP awards in Spain’s Liga ACB before he was 20 years old. As far as value goes, Doncic has the best on the board right now at +2000. He was around +3000 just about a week back and his play will continue to shorten his odds. As our very own Ben Heisler pointed out on Twitter, over his last 17 games Doncic is averaging 32.8 points. 10.1 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game. Doncic also has plenty of time to climb up the MVP ladder. These odds on these awards can swing very quickly from one player to another and I think now is as good a time as any to take a chance on Doncic.
