The Washington Commanders are a dumpster fire of a franchise and that wreckage extends to the preseason. After last week's 23-21 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Washington has covered the spread just once in its last 10 preseason games.

Things won't get easier against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, who are one of the NFL's best teams over the last half-decade. Kansas City squandered a two-touchdown lead against the Chicago Bears last week, but the Chiefs' first-teamers looked strong.

That loss snapped a three-game preseason winning streak for the Chiefs - can they get back on track or will the Commanders pull off an upset?

Commanders vs Chiefs Prediction and Pick

Washington scored 15 points in the fourth quarter last week to make the final score respectable, but the Commanders were getting smoked for most of the game. Carson Wentz went 10-13 for just 74 yards, and the offense as a whole looked terrible.

Of course, it's the preseason, so who cares? But Washington's performance is in stark contrast to the Chiefs, who dominated the first half before seeing the game slip away late.

Kansas City's offense still looks ferocious even without Tyreek Hill, and I'll be stunned if the Chiefs don't get out to an early lead.

Of the Commanders' nine losses against the spread in their last 10 preseason games, every single one came by at least four points. Thus, the large spread doesn't scare me. Considering I expect Kansas City to go up early, we've got value on the number and can hedge in the second-half if need be.

Give me the Chiefs as Washington's misery continues and Wentz struggles.

Pick: Chiefs -4 (-110)
