Cubs vs. Yankees Prediction and Odds for June 11 (Bet Over After Extra Inning Battle)
By Josh Yourish
Chicago went with a bullpen game on Friday night and needed nine pitchers to get through the 13 inning game that Jose Trevino ultimately walked off for the Yankees, 2-1. Game two, the Cubs will go with rookie starter, Matt Swarmer, who has excelled in his first two starts.
New York turns things over to left-hander, Jordan Montgomery. Montgomery is having his best year in pinstripes with a 3.02 ERA. At 42-16, the Yankees seem to be separating themselves as clearly the best team in baseball.
The Yankees have won nine of 10 games while Chicago has lost their last four.

Cubs vs. Yankees Prediction and Pick
On the surface this feels like a big, don’t overthink it spot. However, Vegas clearly knows this and is making it hard to just take the Yanks, especially with how well Swarmer has pitched in his two starts for the Cubs this year. He has an ERA of 1.50, but further inspection reveals a 5.30 FIP which might be a more true depiction of how the rookie has pitched.
A good indicator for the Cubs though is Wilson Contreras’s numbers against left-handed pitching. He has half of his home runs on the year (5) off of lefties in a third of the plate appearances. His OPS is well over 1.100 and it might have to be one man show if the Cubs want to pull the upset.
Both bullpens are a little taxed after yesterday’s 13 inning contest, especially Chicago’s which could be a recipe for a lot of runs to be scored. I don’t see enough value in taking the Yankees even on the run line, but I think a lot of runs will be scored and we can take the over to the bank.
Pick: Over 9 (-105)
