It's postseason time and legends are made in October, so why not pinpoint a few sluggers to get off to hot starts this postseason.

The bulk of the BetSided team is focused on the same game for our top home run prop bets this Friday. The St. Louis Cardinals host the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card round and Reed Wallach, Donnavan Smoot, and Iain MacMillan all have a different selection with very enticing odds.

Meanwhile, BetSided's Ben Heisler is looking to the late game between the San Diego Padres and New York Mets; backing a hitter at +850 who's been terrific against one of tonight's starting pitchers over his career.

Best Home Run Picks Today

Nolan Arenado - St. Louis Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Phillies

While likely NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt has cooled off of late, Arenado keeps chugging along, hitting .267 with a .786 slugging percentage over his last nine games. Now, at home and against a righty in Zack Wheeler, 19 of his 30 home runs have come against righties, I like Arenado to set the tone on Friday afternoon.

He is hitting .357 against Wheeler in a limited sample size of 14 at bats for Arenado so there is success over time, but he hasn’t hit a homer. I think that changes on Friday. – Reed Wallach

Bryce Harper - Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals

This will be Harper’s first postseason appearance since 2017, and I’m ready for him to reintroduce himself in a big way. He’s hit a home run in three of the four series he’s played in.

Quintana hasn’t given up many dingers this season, but Harper has had just a little bit of success against lefties. He’s hit five home runs this season against lefty-starters. With the lights shining bright, expect Harper to break out of his home run slump. – Donnavan Smoot

Kyle Schwarber - Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals

Kyle Schwarber has one of the hottest bats in the Majors heading into the postseason. Since September 1st, Schwarber has an OPS of .944, a slugging percentage of .578, and has hit 10 home runs in 30 games.

Not only that, but he’s been even better on the road this season, so the Cardinals home field advantage doesn’t concern me. His slugging increased from .487 at home, to .523 on the road this season. I love him at this number to hit a dinger in Game 1 in St. Louis. – Iain MacMillan

Josh Bell - San Diego Padres at New York Mets

Mets starter Max Scherzer’s final start of the regular season wasn’t particularly promising, giving up four earned runs and two dingers in less than six innings en route to being swept out of the NL East lead by the Braves.

If Mad Max isn’t right, I like Bell’s opportunity to perhaps take him deep in Game 1. Lifetime vs. Scherzer, he’s .417 with three extra base hits and a home run in 12 at-bats. He’s also walked twice along with only two strikeouts to boot, so he sees the ball exceptionally well against a pitcher who’s always been very difficult to pick up.

Granted, it’s a super low total on the board, but taking a swing at massive odds with Bell with his career success vs. Scherzer feels as good of an upside play as one can find to start the playoffs. - Ben Heisler
