It feels weird to say, but the Arizona Diamondbacks have actually looked good over the last week. Despite being the worst team in the NL West, the Diamondbacks took two of three from the Dodgers and two of four for the Cardinals last week.

The Marlins, meanwhile, have a winning record thanks to a recent seven-game winning streak. Miami lost their series finale to the Mariners on Sunday, but are still 8-2 in their last ten games. It’s the best mark in the NL during that span.

Diamondbacks vs. Marlins Prediction and Pick

Trevor Rogers will get the start for Arizona on the road here. Rogers enters his fifth start with a 5.09 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. But don’t let those numbers fool you. Rogers’ stats are skewed a bit due to one horrific start against the Phillies early in the year. Rogers gave up seven runs in 1 ⅔ inning in that abortive appearance. However, Rogers has been phenomenal in his other three starts. In those games, Rogers totaled 16 innings pitched with just three earned runs surrendered. He does need to reign in the free passes he is doling out, but on the whole, Rogers is dealing.

The Diamondbacks have yet to announce a starter for this game. But, if their team pitching stats are any indication, they might be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Arizona ranks 19th in WHIP at 1.25 and strikes out fewer hitters per game than any other team at 6.56. The Diamondbacks also rank 28th in errors per game at 0.91.

While not knowing who exactly will be on the hill for Arizona, I am confident that Rogers is a better bet to get it done. The Diamondbacks have the worst batting average in the league at .181 and score just 3.17 runs per game. Whoever starts will have no run support and likely suffer a loss because of it.

Pick: Marlins RL
