Two of the best teams in the National League square off tonight when the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves clash in Atlanta. This rematch of last year's NLCS is also the first time that Freddie Freeman returns to ATL to play against his former team. While the Braves still trail the Mets for the lead in the NL East, they might be the hottest team in baseball right now.

Atlanta has cooled off after a 14-game winning streak, but they are still playing at a very high level. But, the Dodgers took Game 1 and are now on a four-game win streak on the road.

Dodgers vs. Braves Prediction and Pick

The Dodgers entered this series coming off a series sweep of the Cincinnati Reds and kept the ball rolling in Game 1. But, tonight is going to be a different story with Max Fried on the mound for Atlanta. He was outstanding in his last start where he struck out eight Giants and allowed a single run on five hits. He didn’t factor into the decision but was practically untouchable. Fried has now allowed one or fewer runs in four of his last five games while going 3-0 in that span. On the year, he is 7-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 87 ⅔ innings with an 85:15 K:BB.

Furthermore, Fried has been a tough nut to crack for the Dodgers lineup as they have a lifetime batting average of just .183 against him. He already shut them out once this season over seven innings while striking out eight and walking none.

Meanwhile, Mitch White will make his fifth start of the year for the Dodgers in this very important game. The Dodgers are back in the lead in the NL, West but hold just a one-game lead over the Padres. White has been solid for the Dodgers with a 3.86 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 25 ⅔ innings. Many of which were out of the bullpen. If you look at his splits, White has been much better as a starter this year with a .183 BAA compared to .235 when coming out of the pen.

Both of these teams have potent offenses, but I think that we are in for a tasty pitcher's duel tonight in Atlanta. So far these two teams have played four times this year and the UNDER is 3-1 in those matchups. This includes last night’s 4-1 win for LA. In their last 16 games, the Dodgers have gone OVER in just five and I think we see more of the same tonight with Fried and White putting in work.

Pick: UNDER 8.5 (+100)
