The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers last night 7-2, but the Dodgers have still won 15 of 18 games against the Diamondbacks this season. Despite only winning three games against Los Angeles, is there value in Arizona and their massive run line?

The Dodgers will send left-handed pitcher Julio Urias (18-3, 3.10) to the hill tonight against right-hander Humberto Mejia (0-2, 7.20 ERA).

Urias has had a nice season and has become a very dependable arm in Los Angeles’ perpetually intimidating rotation. Urias has recorded a 2.19 ERA in his last 15 starts, and has pitched very well against the Diamondbacks, allowing just 10 hits in 60 at-bats, posting a .167 average against Arizona in 2021.

The 24-year old Mejia has made just three big league starts, getting shelled against Atlanta in his last outing, giving up eight hits and six runs in four innings of work.

Here’s how the odds for the NL West matchup look on WynnBET Sportsbook.

Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks Odds

Moneyline:

Dodgers -300

Diamondbacks +237

Total:

Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks Prediction

Urias has silenced Arizona’s offense this season and the D-Backs lineup should be quiet again tonight.

On the other end, Los Angeles has hammered Arizona’s pitching staff this season. Here is how some of the Dodgers have done against the Diamondbacks in 2021:

  • Will Smith: 17-for-48 (.354), four home runs and 10 RBI
  • Max Muncy: 20-for-55 (.364), three home runs and nine RBI
  • Justin Turner: 22-for-66 (.333), four home runs and 20 RBI
  • Trea Turner: 22-for-51 (.431), six home runs and 12 RBI
  • AJ Pollock: 20-for-43 (.465), four home runs and 11 RBI

That’s just some of Los Angeles’ offense that has destroyed Arizona this year.

The number of +2.5 on the run line for the Diamondbacks looks like an appealing bet, being a whole run higher than the typical +1.5 run line, but it is nothing more than a desert mirage.

Don’t let that number pull you in. I’m taking the Dodgers run line.
