GGG vs. Canelo 3 Prediction and Odds (Can Golovkin Win Trilogy Bout?)

Don't let the NFL distract you from the fact that this weekend will featured one of the best boxing matches of the year.
Gennady Golovkin, also known as GGG, will take on Canelo Álvarez in a trilogy bout. The first two contests were legendary bouts. The two met for the first time on September 16th, 2017, and the fight ended in a controversial split decision draw.
They met for a rematch the following year, on September 15th, 2018, and Álvarez walked away with the majority decision victory.
Both of the first two fights were razor thin, and now, the two will meet in a trilogy fight at super middleweight for the undisputed titles.
Let's take a look at the odds for the fight, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.
Canelo Álvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin Odds
- Canelo Álvarez -500
- Gennady Golovkin +410
- Draw +2000
Canelo Álvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin Prediction
Canelo is the rightful favorite in this fight, but I think the odds are too lopsided and now the value lies with Golovkin.
Many people, myself included, felt GGG won their first bout. He out-struck Canelo in 10 of the 12 rounds, and was the much more active fighter throughout. The second fight was a lot closer, but an argument could be made that Golovkin also won the rematch.
Álvarez enters the fight coming off his first loss since losing to Floyd Mayweather back in 2013. Whether that's a sign of regression from the 32-year old, or just a blip in the radar, but that should be concerning for anyone who is looking to lay the juice on a -500 bet.
I'll make the same bet I made in the first two fights. At +410, I can't resist wagering on GGG.
Pick: Gennady Golovkin +410
