Giants vs. Tigers Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, August 23 (Trust Carlos Rodon in Detroit)

The San Francisco Giants are looking to get back to .500 on the season when they take on the Detroit Tigers in a quick two-game set.
The Giants have lefty ace Carlos Rodon (11-6, 2.89 ERA) on the mound against Drew Hutchinson (1-6, 4.23 ERA), which should be a significant edge.
Hutchinson is making his 11th start this season after starting the year out of the bullpen, and he has a 4.11 ERA over his first 10 outings. The Tigers have gone just 3-7 in those games, and they’ve largely been a disappointment in 2022.
Here are the odds from DraftKings for Tuesday’s game:
Giants vs. Tigers Odds, Run Line and Total
Run Line:
- Giants -1.5 (-125)
- Tigers +1.5 (+105)
Moneyline:
- Giants: -210
- Tigers: +180
Total:
- 7.5 (Over +100/Under -120)
Giants vs. Tigers Prediction and Pick
Rodon didn’t have the best month of July, but he’s been solid over his last four starts, compiling a 3-0 record (the Giants are 3-1 in those games) and a 1.48 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched.
The Tigers are the worst offense in baseball this season, ranking dead last in OPS and runs scored, and they’re 19th in OPS against left-handed pitching.
The Giants’ bullpen has been their Achilles heel in 2022, but they should be able to build a solid lead against Hutchinson, who has allowed 17 runs and 37 hits over his last six starts, with Detroit going 1-5 in those games.
The Giants still have some playoff hopes, so I think they come out ready to handle business with their ace on the mound.
Lean: Giants -1.5 (-125)
