Guardians vs. White Sox Prediction and Odds for Monday, May 9 (Bet OVER in AL Central Matchup)
By Reed Wallach
The Chicago White Sox are arguably the biggest disappointment to start 2022, but are still within striking distance of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.
Chicago now starts a division series against the Cleveland Guardians, who are right behind the White Sox in the AL Central standings at 14-14. Can either club make headway towards catching the Twins in the divisional race? Chicago will start rising star Michael Kopech while Cleveland will hope starter Zach Plesac can get on track on the road.
Here are the odds for Monday's matchup from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Guardians vs. White Sox Prediction and Pick
The White Sox offense is starting to produce and should take advantage of a struggling Plesac. The Guardians starter is posting an ERA of 4.44 thus far and has struggled over his last two starts, allowing 10 runs. In 10 starts against the White Sox in his career, he has a 3-4 record with an ERA of 4.18. Based on his career numbers we can expect Plesac to continue his underwhelming numbers in 2022.
While Plesac may be sub-par this season, the Guardians' offense has been producing at a high level. The Guardians offense is fourth in on-base percentage behind the fine play of Jose Ramirez, hitting .311 with a big league best 30 RBI's.
The White Sox will counter the Guadians lineup with Michael Kopech, who has been filthy in his first season as a full time starting pitcher. Kopech has a 1.17 ERA, but his FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) has ticked above 2.00 meaning that he may begin trending backwards. What's most notable to me is his lack of innings pitched. Kopech appears capped at 5 innings, never going further this season. If he is only going to pitch half the game, the Guardians can produce some runs against the team's bullpen.
At even money, I'll take a chance on the over with two strong offenses with a few more questions on the mound.
LEAN: OVER 7.5 (+100)
