The Miami Marlins have long been eliminated from the postseason, but they have a chance to play spoiler on Friday against a Milwaukee Brewers team that is fighting for the final spot in the National League.

This is going to be a fantastic pitching matchup, as Brewers ace Corbin Burnes (11-8, 3.11 ERA) gets the ball against All-Star Sandy Alcantara (14-8, 2.32 ERA). After a few rough starts in the second half, Alcantara has bounced back in a big way his last two outings, allowing just two runs over 17 innings pitched.

Can the Brewers beat the NL Cy Young candidate to keep their playoff hopes alive?

Marlins vs. Brewers Prediction and Pick

As much as I like both of these starters, there is no doubt that Alcantara has pitched better as of late.

Over his last three starts, Alcantara has a 1.50 ERA, striking out 22 batters in 24.0 innings of work while leading the Marlins to a 2-1 record in those games.

Burnes, on the other hand, has struggled in September, pitching to a 4.41 ERA and allowing five or more runs in three of his last six starts. Not ideal.

Milwaukee needs this game much more than the Marlins, but I can’t pass up getting to bet on Alcantara at this price, especially with how deep he’s pitched into games lately.
