Marlins vs. Nationals Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, April 26 (Alcantara Gives Miami the Best Chance to Win)
By Matt De Saro
The Washington Nationals have suffered a total collapse of their offense and pitching over the last week of play. Things weren’t going great before that. mind you, but the Nats are riding a five-game losing streak as they head into a series against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Washington got blown up by the San Francisco Giants by a combined score of 24-6 during their three-game sweep. The Nats are now 6-12 and in the basement of the NL East.
The Marlins may be in second place in the NL East, but their season isn’t going a whole lot better. At 7-8, they are four games behind the New York Mets for the NL East lead. A lead they are unlikely to lose at any point this year. On the bright side, the Marlins are 3-1 in their last four and just took two of three from the Atlanta Braves. The Marlins have had a tough schedule and I think will enjoy the level of skill the Nationals bring into this series.

Marlins vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick
Not only do the Marlins have a better recent record, but they also have an edge on the mound with Sandy Alcantara getting the start. Alcantara blanked the Cardinals over eight innings on Wednesday while striking out six, and walking one. The bullpen blew the Marlins' night but Alcantara was lights out. He actually leads the MLB in innings per game at 6.1 after three solid outings.
The Nationals will send Josiah Gray to the hill as the young right-hander goes for his second win in a row. Gray had a great start last week against the Diamondbacks where he went 5 ⅓ innings of one-run ball. His only hiccup was a solo shot and Gray struck out eight on the day. However, that game was against an Arizona team that had the worst batting average in the MLB when the game was played. They are one of only two teams with a team BA under .200.
Alcantara’s success, combined with the Nats' struggles, makes a play on the runline the way to go.
Pick: Marlins RL (+130)
