After a recent slide let the Braves climb to a near tie, the New York Mets have responded.

The Mets are winners of six straight games, erasing some of the ground the red hot Atlanta Braves did to pull up by three games heading into August.

After dropping as low as -130 to win the NL East, something they have held first place for nearly the entire season, the Mets are now back out to -290. Here are the full NL East odds as of July 31.

Mets Bats Heating Up at Right Time

Despite going 38-14 since the beginning of June, the Mets have not relinquished their NL East lead. Yes, they once led by 10 games over the Braves, but New York has held off the reigning World Series champions.

Over the course of the team's six game winning streak, starting last Sunday against the Padres, the team is hitting nearly .300 while posting the best wRC+ in baseball. The team is coming alive at the plate at the right time after a slump through much of July.

One player to keep an eye on is Francisco Lindor, who crushed a towering shot on Saturday name to put an exclamation point on another New York win.

New York took both games of a two game sweep of the New York Yankees and then dismantled the Marlins in Miami over the weekend.

With a series upcoming against the Nationals, who have the worst record in Major League Baseball, the Mets may be in line to extend their lead over the Braves. Keep in mind, the Mets are expected to have Jacob deGrom back in the rotation. He is slated to start Tuesday for the first time in over year.
