If you thought that Syracuse’s shaky 6-4 start to the season was bad, then try being a Monmouth fan. The Monmouth Hawks are 1-9 with their lone win coming against Manhattan last week. They’re huge underdogs up in Syracuse because the Orange have won three straight games including their ACC opener against Notre Dame. Last time out they took down Georgetown, 83-64.

Here are the odds for Monmouth and Syracuse in Western New York.

Monmouth vs. Syracuse Prediction and Pick

Monmouth is a legitimate disaster. Their leading scoring is Myles Foster, who barely averages double digits, and they are 349th in the country in offense. Their last game was a 91-54 loss to Princeton and they’re allowing 82.9 points a game which is 359th in the nation. I don’t really know how it could be worse. Meanwhile, Syracuse has turned it around.

Over their last three games, the Orange are averaging 80 points a game and only giving up 63.7 points. That is coming on the heels of their 73-44 loss to Illinois. It seems like this could be here to stay, because they haven’t even shot the ball well in this stretch. They’ve only shot 27% from three, so if the shooting starts to come around too, they could become one of the better teams in the ACC.

I’m going to expect a little bit of positive shooting regression for the Orange tonight and take them to absolutely dominate Monmouth.
