As the final stretch of the NFL regular season begins, the awards market is evolving.

Week 13 had several playoff-bound teams in action against one another, notably the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Tennessee Titans. Following a pair of impressive results from Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts, those two have made inroads on Patrick Mahomes' MVP candidacy.

Burrow was able to out duel Mahomes for the third time in as many games in the 27-24 victory, flying up the odds board and now sits as the third choice to win the award.

The flip side of Burrow beating Mahomes is that the odds on favorite to win the award took a loss, opening the door for the favorite earlier this season to pull closer in Hurts. Hurts has been on a roll over his last two weeks and passed for 380 yards in the 35-10 win against the Titans, combining for four touchdowns.

Here are the latest odds to win NFL MVP following a pivotal Week 13:

Updated Odds for NFL MVP

The biggest development in the MVP race isn't that Burrow outdueled Mahomes, as Hurts still stands between the two, and is on the team who will likely finish the season with the best record. The Eagles improved to 11-1 this season while the Chiefs fell to 9-3 and out of the top spot in the AFC, which is now occupied by the Buffalo Bills again.

MVP is a narrative-driven award and the Eagles, who are a game up on the next best team in the NFL record wise (the 10-2 Vikings) and two games ahead of the Chiefs, are very likely to finish with the best record.

Hurts is top 10 in passing yards (2,940 yards), passing touchdowns (20) and has the second fewest interceptions with only three to his name. Not to mention, he has over 600 yards rushing and nine touchdowns.

Mahomes is the league leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns, but with the Eagles on track to finish with the best overall record, that has far more bearing on the MVP than simply stats. Burrow put himself into the race, but Cincinnati is still 8-4 and not even tops in the AFC North, tied with the Baltimore Ravens.

It may be a matter of time before Hurts separates from the pack, and runs away with the NFL MVP.
