Orioles vs. Blue Jays Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, June 15 (Bet On Third Straight Over in This Series)
By Reed Wallach
The Toronto Blue Jays can't be dropping games to the Baltimore Orioles if they want to keep pace in the loaded AL Wild Card race. With divisional foes like the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox all contending and keeping pace, the Jays have split their series to date with last-place Baltimore.
Toronto looks to make it two of three against the lowly Orioles on Wednesday with Jose Berrios hoping to get on track in 2022.
Here are the odds for this AL East meeting from consensus sportsbooks:
Orioles vs. Blue Jays Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Orioles: +1.5 (+120)
- Blue Jays: -1.5 (-140)
Moneyline:
- Orioles: +250
- Blue Jays: -300
Total: 9.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Orioles vs. Blue Jays Prediction and Pick
Both games have gone over in this series and I'm going for the trifecta with this pitching matchup.
It's hard to look past Berrios' numbers and not be concerned. Last season's trade deadline acquisition for the Blue Jays has seen his strikeout rate dip to the lowest mark of his career at 7.5 strikeouts per 9 innings. Berrios has an ERA of 4.73 and a FIP of 4.40, meaning that he has been a justified below-average pitcher this season.
Baltimore's offense is not something to overlook, seventh in the big leagues since the start of June in wRC+, meaning that they are generating a ton of run scoring chances and can pounce on a struggling Berrios.
I'm not going to call for the outright upset, though, as the Blue Jays are in line for a big night at the plate against lefty starter Bruce Zimmerman. He has an ERA of 5.52 and a FIP that supports that, and it could get ugly against a Blue Jays team off of a loss and third in OPS against southpaws this season.
I'm going to avoid the moneyline and just take the over in one that is a run too low for my liking.
LEAN: OVER 9.5 (-110)
