Rangers vs. Yankees Prediction and Odds for Friday, May 6 (Can Gerrit Cole add to Streak of 12 Scoreless Innings?)
By Matt De Saro
Has Gerrit Cole finally figured out how to pitch without his coveted “sticky stuff” at hand? It would appear so after two scoreless starts from last season’s AL wins leader.
Cole was awful to start the year, giving up eight total runs in his first 11 ⅓ innings pitched for the Yankees. But, as I was about to give up on him, Cole stepped up and blanked the Guardians over 6 ⅔ innings two weeks ago. Then, last weekend, Cole held the Royals scoreless over six innings. He struck out 15 in that span and walked three. Cole now has a 12-inning scoreless streak going and faces a very weak Texas Rangers offense.
Can Cole keep the Rangers off the board or will he revert back to his early-season form?

Rangers vs. Yankees Prediction and Pick
Glen Otto will get the start against Cole tonight, making his third appearance for the Rangers. Otto has been very good to start the season with a 2.89 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 9 ⅓ innings pitched. But, Otto is coming off a season where he finished with a 9.29 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over six starts. It’s possible he is having a breakout sophomore season as many do. But I am willing to bet that Otto is already on his back to an ERA north of 4.00. He started his season in late April with a win over the Oakland Athletics.
Otto went five innings with one run, five strikeouts, and one walk. His second start saw his innings drop to 4 ⅓ while his runs rose to two. He also gave up his first home run of the year. Otto now must face off against a Yankees team that is 11-1 in their last 12 games. I don’t see it going well.
Pick: Yankees -1.5
