Reds Sox vs. Cubs Prediction and Odds for Saturday, July 2 (Expect Runs with Questions on the Mound)
By Josh Yourish
Chicago managed to come from behind to take Game 1 of this three game series 6-5. The win pulls the Cubs into third place in the NL Central at 31-46. Boston is also in third in the AL East at 43-34, and both teams are 13 games back of first place in their respective divisions. That fact illustrates the strength of the AL East and the dominance of the 2022 New York Yankees.
For Game 2 of this interleague series, Boston throws Josh Winckowski and Chicago goes with Alec Mills.

Red Sox vs. Cubs Prediction and Pick
Injuries to Rich Hill, Nathan Evoldi and Garrett Whitlock forced Josh Winckowski into the starting rotation in June. The rookie has acquitted himself quite nicely with a 3.60 ERA in four starts.
While Winckowski has entered the rotation and had success, Mills has been mostly a piece of the Chicago bullpen in the month of June. Making five appearances out of the pen and only one start which came on June 26. On that day Mills could not get out of the third inning before allowing five runs on six hits.
The Cubs may be trying to stretch Mills out to a starting role again because he has not had success as a long reliever. As an innings eater he has accumulated a 9.87 ERA.
Both sides have been hot, Chicago has gone 6-4 in their last ten and Christopher Morel has three home runs and a 1.129 OPS over the past week. Willson Contreras has a 1.306 OPS in the same stretch. Boston has a 7-3 record over their last ten and are hitting .288.
This could be a high scoring affair at Wrigley especially if the wind gets blowing.
Pick: Over 9.5 (-110)
