Royals vs. Guardians Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, June 1 (Low Quality Pitching Bodes Well for Over Bettors)
By Matt De Saro
The Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians close out a three-game mid-week series on Wednesday afternoon at Progressive Field. These AL Central rivals are both struggling, though the Royals are clearly the weaker team overall.
The Guardians flashed signs of life here and there but just cannot get out of their own way most nights. In their 14 games leading into this series, the Guardians are just 4-10 and are in real danger of falling out of contention completely.
It’s a long season but the Royals are already out of contention for anything positive. They will be fighting tooth and nail all year just to avoid finishing in last place in the AL Central.

Royals vs. Guardians Prediction and Pick
The Royals had a good thing going in April with Brad Keller after the 26-year-old posted a 2.19 ERA in his first four starts. However, things have gone downhill fast and Keller’s ERA in May was 5.40. His last start was a six-run disaster against the Twins on the road.
He gave up two home runs and walked three in his four innings of work. This would be bad for any team, but the Royals have no way to rebound from bad starts as evidenced by their 26th ranked scoring offense. The Dodgers, who lead the league in runs, have almost 100 more than the Royals do in the same number of games.
Konnor Pilkington will get to enjoy pitching against the offense today in his sixth appearance of the season. This will be the second start made by the rookie who worked out of the bullpen in April. The young southpaw didn’t allow a single run out of the pen in five innings of work. However, as a starter, the baseball gods have not been as kind. Pilkington had a 6.43 ERA in May over two stars that lasted just seven innings combined.
This feels like a bullpen game and I am going to bet that means a big day at the plate for these two struggling rivals.
Pick: OVER 8 (-105)
