Tigers vs. Dodgers Prediction and Odds for Sunday, May 1 (Walker Buehler to Stifle Tigers)
By Joe Summers
After a 5-1 win yesterday snapped a six-game losing streak, the 7-13 Detroit Tigers hope to get a winning streak started as they take on the 13-7 Los Angeles Dodgers today at 4:10 p.m. EST.
Los Angeles has now lost three of four and will send Walker Buehler to the mound to turn things around. The 27-year-old phenom has a 2.55 ERA through four starts and is coming off a complete game shutout of the Diamondbacks.
The Tigers will counter with Eduardo Rodriguez, who has a pair of quality starts in his last two outings but has pitiful underlying metrics on the year.
Can the Dodgers offense break out against Rodriguez or will the Tigers prove a feisty underdog once again?
Let's check out the odds from WynnBET as we find some value in this Tigers vs Dodgers matchup:

Tigers vs Dodgers Prediction and Pick
There's no reason to sound the alarms quite yet, but the Dodgers offense is sputtering. They're averaging just 2.8 runs per game over their last five and the under has hit each time.
Walker Buehler is no stranger to low-scoring games though, as the dude is simply phenomenal. He's allowed three runs or fewer in 28 of his last 30 starts, dating back to last season. That's bananas. Good luck, Detroit.
While Tigers' starter Eduardo Rodriguez has been serviceable, his underlying metrics suggest a blowup is coming. Check out his pitching profile from Baseball Savant:
I'm almost certain that the Tigers won't score much, but it seems likely Los Angeles will be able to create some opportunities thanks to Rodriguez's propensity to give up hard contact. That being said, the Tigers have the lowest bullpen ERA in the league, so if Rodriguez can survive the early innings then runs will be hard to come by.
I also can't ignore the overwhelming under trend for both of these teams. It's 10-4 in Detroit's last 14 contests and 9-1 over the Dodgers' last 10. Los Angeles should win, but it'll be a low-scoring game. Just how Buehler likes it.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-115) and Under 7.5 (-120)
