The first half of the MLB season is winding down, but we still have plenty of games to get through. Although it’s the late afternoon, there’s still a few games at the end of the night to bet on. The BetSided crew of Reed Wallach and Josh Yourish has you covered with their favorite picks for the games today, via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Dodgers vs. Angels Prediction and Pick

The Dodgers are rolling into the break, winning 14 of their last 16 games to distance themselves from the rest of the NL West. They now hold a 9.5-game lead on San Diego, and the Dodgers are not the type of team to let up. LA has won the last five times Urias has taken the mound, though his last time out did not go to plan. July 10 against Chicago, Urias allowed five runs over just two innings, but the Dodgers offense gave him the run support needed.

The Angels are 2-8 in their last ten games, and it still remains true that their only wins have come with Shohei Ohtani on the mound. Not much else really seems to matter for the Angels, they are an awful team and have been ever since their 14-game losing streak began. Yet, every time Ohtani is on the mound, they win. If he is not, they don’t.

Jose Suarez has struggled in July not going beyond the fifth inning in two starts, last time out he allowed four in 3.2 innings. The Dodgers offense is slightly less effective against left-handers with a .734 OPS compared to .783 against right-handed pitching, but that looks great next to the Angels .653 OPS against lefties.

Again, it’s really simple to bet on an Angels game. Is the starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani? No. Then fade them.

Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-117)

Red Sox vs. Yankees Prediction and Pick

It's tough to trust either pitcher right now, keeping me off the Red Sox as an intriguing underdog again, but rather on the total.

Pivetta got roughed up pretty good in his last start which came against the Yankees at home, allowing six runs in three and a third innings. While the Yankees have come back down to Earth a bit record wise the offense is still the best in baseball on a wRC+ basis this month. Don't overlook the Yankees offense just yet.

Meanwhile, we are in full fade of Jameson Taillon at this point. He has allowed 20 runs over his last 26.2 innings and also struggled in his last start last weekend against Boston like his Red Sox counterpart.

Taillon doesn't deserve this price, but I can't back Boston to pick up a second straight win with Pivetta's erratic play against the Yankees, so I'll look to another high scoring affair.

LEAN: OVER 8.5 (-115)
