The Dallas Stars started their NHL journey back in the 1967 expansion as the Minnesota North Stars, before moving to Texas in 1993. Since then, the Stars have had a lot of highs and lows in terms of playoff success. Most years they weren’t even a part of postseason play. Let’s take a look back at the Stars’ history with the Stanley Cup before looking forward to 2022.

When was the Stars’ Last Stanley Cup Championship Win?

The North Stars never won a Stanley Cup but did make it to the finals in 1991, despite a losing record during the regular season. But, the Dallas Stars have won a Stanley Cup. It took Dallas just six years as a team to win their first Cup in 1999. They had an insane regular season with a 51-19-12 record and finished first in goals against with just 168.

Little did Dallas know, it would be the last time they tasted success on that level for the next couple of decades. The Stars fell into a bad state in the 2010s and failed to make the playoffs in nine of their last 13 seasons. Then, inexplicably, they made it to the conference finals in 2019 and the Cup Finals in 2020. They followed that up by missing the playoffs entirely in 2021.

Dallas Stars’ Odds to win the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals

The Stars not making the playoffs the season after winning the West was shocking. But, they have made it to the Western Conference Finals in two of the last three years and could be a sneaky dark horse bet. The Stars kick off their round one series against the Flames tonight as +190 underdogs at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Dallas has the second-lowest odds to win it all at +4000 and is +2000 to win the Western Conference Championship. But, first, the Stars have to make it out of the opening round. The bookmakers have them as heavy underdogs at +270 to pull off an upset of one of the best teams in the league.
