People of a certain age can remember a time when Marvel didn’t treat the Avengers with a whole lot of respect at all. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has always been the tagline, but for a time in the 90s, the team didn’t really have fans, just readers who hung around out of inertia or really, really liked team books.
