The 49ers fans have one of the richest histories of any team in the land. After becoming a successful AAFC team in the late 1940s, the team joined the NFL in 1950 and was supported from the jump by thousands on the left coast, with only the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams being pro football teams west of the Mississippi.
