The Atlanta Braves were the pinnacle of overcoming adversity in baseball. After having been one win away from getting back to the World Series for the first time since 1999 a year ago, Atlanta had a crushing first half in 2021. Mike Soroka tore his Achilles again. Ronald Acuna Jr. blew out his knee on the warning track in the final series before the All-Star break. And let's not even go there with the Marcell Ozuna debacle. For a team that had so many expectations, it could have been season over in July. But a handful of savvy trades made by general manager Alex Anthopoulos transformed this ball club. He revamped a depleted outfield and the Braves caught fire in the dog days of summer. This culminated in their fourth straight NL East crown and eventually an appearance in the World Series.

Why we needed this fandom this year
Any time a fandom experiences its first championship in a generation, it has to be celebrated. This was a journey 26 years in the making. It was the ride of a lifetime. Any notion of any Atlanta sports curse has been ripped to shreds. Against all odds, this team got it done, and Braves Country was there every step of the way to help make this magical experience possible.
What emotion defined this fandom this year?
This is two-pronged: Hope and resilience. Braves Country is a loyal bunch, but this year's squad put the fanbase through all the emotions. From the highest of highs of winning the World Series to the lowest of lows seeing Ronald Acuna Jr. blow his knee out on the warning track in Miami, Braves Country never lost faith. Once the roster was reconfigured and the team got better, Braves fans experienced something they had not in years: A World Series Championship!
