Little Mix

In 2021, the British female pop group Little Mix kept rising to new heights. When founding member Jesy Nelson announced her departure from the group in late 2020, current members Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall kept at it as a trio and landed another No. 1 single in the UK with Sweet Melody. In May, Little Mix became the first girl group to win Best British Group at the Brit Awards and paid homage to those that paved the way. On top of the historic win and celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their formation on The X Factor, Edwards and Pinnock became mothers, and a string of collaborations hit the charts ahead of the release of their greatest hits album and lots of new music. It's Little Mix's world, and we're just living in it!

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

In 2021, Little Mix celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their formation on The X Factor, but we already know that the girls will continue to leave a lasting legacy another decade from now. We could never forget how the Mixers stood behind Leigh-Anne, Jade, and Perrie during one of the most tumultuous transitions in their career.

How this fandom is changing entertainment

Simply put, Little Mix fans aren’t tolerating the racism and colorism Leigh-Anne Pinnock has endured. This year, they have held the people contributing to that accountable for their actions, no matter how famous those people might be. We can only hope these conversations will have ripple effects throughout the entertainment industry and beyond.
