New York Knicks

The Knicks finally made their way back to the playoffs as a major underdog all season, grabbing the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. Julius Randle won the league's Most Improved Player award and Tom Thibodeau was named NBA Coach of the Year. And all that was just a prelude to what they're hoping to accomplish in the 2021-22 season.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

Ten years from now there's a good chance that we are looking back on the New York Knicks 2020-21 season as a changing point for the franchise. The Knicks have struggled to stay relevant since the 1990s, but Julius Randle's breakout season helped bring New York back to prominence in the East. Tom Thibodeau's team finally looked like one with an identity, as they played hard every night on both ends of the floor and made the most of what many projected to be an underwhelming roster. And they've certainly built on that to start the new NBA season.

Best fan moment of the year

There were a bunch of great moments for a Knicks fan this past year, but the one that stands out above the rest is fans coming back into Madison Square Garden in the playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks had MSG at partial capacity for most of the season, but Knicks fans finally were able to show this team how much they appreciated their effort and shocking season when the team made the playoffs and played in front of a full house. Knicks fans have been waiting a while to cheer on a playoff team, and the return to the Garden was a special one.
