Tampa Bay Buccaneers

SEE ALL Football
After almost two decades of nothing but soul-crushing pain, the Buccaneers finally delivered another Super Bowl for their fans. We got to watch the Bucs retire Drew Brees, almost force Aaron Rodgers to quit the Packers, and then hold the best offense in football to zero TDs in the Super Bowl. For the first time in a long time, the Bucs made us feel something other than irrelevancy or pain — we got to fly our fandom flag high and with pride above everyone else in the NFL.

What is this fandom’s best tradition?

Whenever the Buccaneers enter the redzone — or score any points — the famous pirate ship located in the north endzone will fire its cannons. It’s created the rally cry “Fire The Canons,“ and the almost endless sound of them in 2020 brought back memories of the glory years of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

What emotion defined this fandom this year?

Pride. Sundays in the past at Ray Jay featured mostly opposing fans packing the stadium to see whichever team was visiting Tampa, but this year saw a return of Buccaneers pride. Even though full capacity wasn’t allowed this season, the smattering of fans who did show up were proudly wearing Bucs colors and creating a home field atmosphere that has been sorely lacking for years.
