Shohei Ohtani has received a ton of love from baseball fans and media members this year, and deservedly so. While the Los Angeles Angels' two-way player will be the AL MVP, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made it a competition. Guerrero not only played a significant role in the Blue Jays' late (but ultimately failed) push to the postseason, he legitimately flirted with the Triple Crown. Guerrero has shown in his third season that he is already one of the league's top stars.

Best fan moment of the year
It is hard to choose the best moment of what was a great 2021 for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He won the All-Star Game MVP, becoming the youngest player to do so. But perhaps the best moment for Guerrero was hitting his 48th home run of the year. It tied the AL lead this year with Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez, but it also broke Eddie Matthews' record (47) set in 1953 for most home runs hit by a player 22 or younger.
What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now
This is only the third season of Vladimir Guerrero Jr's career, and it will be looked back on 10 years from now as a sign of things to come. Guerrero was in the hunt for the Triple Crown, helped push the Toronto Blue Jays into the final day of the regular-season with a postseason berth on the line, and is in contention for the AL MVP award. Guerrero has shown in 2021 at the young age of 22 that he is going to be one of MLB's premier superstars.
