Can WMMA get some?! Choking out old notions of merit and ability, this year continued to render new paradigm shifts for WMMA. Top-level female fighters not only hold dominant positions in the best pound-for-pound rankings, but many continue to maximize their mainstream appeal across major promotions via social engagement, endorsements, and crossover activity. Love to see it!

How this fandom made the world a better place
WMMA fandom empowers women into wholeheartedly believing that strength is beauty and anything is possible. In a world where the female body continues to be a subject of harassment and a woman’s ability is regularly debated, top female fighters have used their platform to reject negativity and instead promote inclusivity and empowerment within the community.
How this fandom is changing sports
Women’s sports have consistently been on the periphery of sports media coverage. This year has seen positive, long overdue growth towards turning conversations into action, due in large part to fan communities demanding more stories and recognition for the world’s top female athletes. This includes combat sports and WMMA fandom that continues to show up, show out, and move the needle forward into what many describe as the golden age of WMMA.
