There hasn't been a broadcast comedy series that caught on as quickly and deservedly as Abbott Elementary did this year. The breakout ABC comedy series filled a hole we might not have even realized was missing from TV. Quinta Brunson, as the creator and lead star, brought to life something so joyous and necessary, a show that so many people can see themselves in. Dare I say Abbott Elementary is a perfect show with the longevity to last for as many seasons as we're lucky enough to receive.

Why we needed this fandom this year
If there’s something the world needed a whole lot more of in 2022, it’s joy. That’s exactly what Abbott Elementary brought to television. We haven’t seen a broadcast comedy blow up in quite this way for many years, and it’s a breath of fresh air. Quinta Brunson’s brand of comedy and perspective was not only needed and necessary but welcomed far and wide with open arms.
What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now
There’s a very good chance that Abbott Elementary could still be on television a decade from now or, at the very least, just wrapping its run. The entertainment industry and fans will feel the impact of the series, its cast, and its creator Quinta Brunson a decade from now and beyond. In the same way that Seinfeld, Friends, The Office, and other sitcoms helped shape comedy, Abbott Elementary will be next to hold that crown.
